Sharon A. Ashley, age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 13, 2011, in her home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Sharon was born on April 13, 1950, in Ilion, daughter of the late John and Verna Eramo Ashley. She was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School with the class of 1969. Sharon had worked for various companies throughout the area and was last employed by the Utica Observer-Dispatch.

In her leisure time she enjoyed the outdoors and camping, especially her time spent at Piseco Lake. Sharon also enjoyed doing word-find-puzzles, watching movies, and listening to her music. She also had a great love for animals.

Sharon is survived by two brothers, and two sisters, Mark Ashley of Ilion, William Ashley and his wife Holly of Fairfield, two daughters, Diane Baylor and her husband Allan of Fairfield, Kim Faubert and her husband John of Ilion, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her dear friend Barbara, with whom she resided.

At Sharons request, there will be no public calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer on Monday at 11:30 am. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer will officiate.
