Nancy was salutatorian of her graduating class of Nelson County High School. Nancy spent much of her professional career in the insurance industry and worked for many years with the Rucker Insurance Agency in Amherst. She spent the majority of her life as a resident of the Tye River community, where she and Kathleen were childhood friends and lifetime neighbors.
Nancy was known for her sweet smile and her love of her many friends and her family. Nancy enjoyed life and was always up for a trip. Nancy only had to be asked once, Do you want to go?” and her answer was always “yes”. In early years, she and cousin Anne, were frequent traveling companions. In later years, she enjoyed many fun trips with friends Ruth Ann and Mary. She was always ready to visit family members, so when Jesus called her on Sunday morning, she was ready to go to her final destination. Nancy loved people and her true joy were the people with whom she surrounded herself. She was always happy for friends and family to visit her and share good times together.
Nancy had a strong belief and faith in Jesus Christ and enjoyed Christian television programs, especially gospel music and concerts with her grandson Joshua Creasey. She was glad to share her faith with others. Nancy loved nature and enjoyed watching birds come to her birdfeeders, the occasional raccoon visiting her front porch, and deer grazing in the backyard. She loved flowers and plants and took care to keep her porch with seasonal flowers. Nancy loved cats her entire life and was always ready to invite one more into her home. She left behind Tom, Tiger and Midnight. She loved flowers and always filled her porch with them.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at St. Stephens Baptist Church at Tye River with Pastor Allan Monfils officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the social hall of the church.
