Betty Ellen Vickers of Desoto, Texas passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday, 3:00 AM, March 16, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on May 20, 1939 in Dallas County, Texas, the daughter of Tommy Mae Meason and Burie A. Richburg. Betty’s hometown was Corpus Christi, Texas where she was raised by her mother, Tommy M. Vickers and step-father, Henry E. Vickers. Betty graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1957 and received an Associate Degree from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. She moved to Dallas, Texas and worked as a Professional Petroleum Land Man. In later years she was editor for The Yellow Rose publication for the Dallas Area Historical Rose Society. She was also a member of Antique Rose Emporium and the Heritage Rose Foundation, District of New York City.
She is survived by many friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heritage Rose Foundation, P.O. Box 1719, Gonzalez, LA 70707 (with notation of Heritage Rose Foundation Rose District of New York City- in memory of Betty Ellen Vickers) or to the American Cancer Society.
