On December 23, 1961, he married Muriel E. (Wilkie), and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Tobin (Vicki) Boyd of Jackson, grandson, Christopher Boyd and his mother, Sherrie Springer of North Lake, other grandchildren, Rick, Jessica, and Mackenzie “Mackie”, one sister-in-law, Frances (Gerald) Harkness of Jackson, nieces and nephews, Thomas, Gerald, Elizabeth, and Leslie, and extended family, Melissa Radabaugh of Grass Lake, and her children Cody, Dylan, Seth, and Jenna Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kimberly D. Boyd in 1982, and brother, Richard L. Boyd in 2018.
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. He and Muriel had lived in the Chelsea area since 1963. He worked for 34 years at the Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea, retiring as Group Supervisor in the Brake Engineering Department. He was a member of the Chelsea First United Methodist Church. Jerry loved cars, especially classic cars, and he enjoyed showing off his 1961 Corvette in antique car shows and the Chelsea Fair Parade. He also enjoyed hunting, especially rabbits and pheasants.
A private burial was held at Oak Grove Cemetery officiated by The Rev. Joy Barrett.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea First United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
