Rhythm and blues singer, song-writer and producer. Born Zephire Andre Williams, he is also known as the "Godfather of Rap." His career began in the 1950's and continued until his final album “Don’t Ever Give Up” in 2017. His most famous songs include the hits "Jail Bait," "Greasy Chicken," "Bacon Fat" and "Cadillac Jack." His best-known song was “Shake a Tail Feather,” written with Otha Hayes and Verlie Rice for the Five Du-Tones in 1963; the song was covered by Ray Charles in the 1980 movie “The Blues Brothers.” He was inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2012.
