Jane J. Ross was born November 2, 1920 in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Marguerite (Robertson) Jackson. Following graduation from Joplin High School where she had been chosen to be Cadet Colonel sponsor of ROTC, Jane attended Sweetbrier in Virginia before returning and attending Joplin Junior College. Jane instilled in her daughters the importance of giving back to the community. For many years she was an election judge; was a member of PEO, Chapter FI; an honorary member of Delta Gamma and a member and past president of the Joplin Women's Club. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church and served over 50 years with St. Margaret's Guild. Jane and Henry S. 'Buss' Ross were married on June 13, 1941 and one year later, welcomed the first of her three daughters.
