Richard Abner Terry was born May 9, 1881, in Buffalo NY, the oldest child and only son of Charles and Harriet Rodgers Terry. By 1900, his father had died and his mother, sister and he had relocated to Hayfield Township, Crawford County, PA, where his mother was born. He married Margaret Mahoney, also from Hayfield Township, on October 5, 1910, and they settled in Meadville, PA. Together they had four children, Jessie, Richard Edward, Regina and John A. Richard Abner was an airbrake inspector for the Erie Railroad Company and was fatally injured on January 14, 1929, when he was hit by a switch engine while at work. He had worked for the Erie Railroad for 16 years prior to his death. He and his wife were members of St. Brigid's RC church and he was survived by his wife and his four children. His parents and his only sibling, Donna Terry Casler, preceded him in death.
