Jens Arthur Andersen, 72 of Blooming Prairie, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Albert Lea.
He was born July 14, 1943, in Albert Lea, the son of Arthur and Crystal (Young) Andersen. A lifelong Blooming Prairie resident and 1961 graduate of Blooming Prairie High School, Jens made his living as a farmer. Farmers Elevator employed him for 14 years, retiring in 2006.
On June 8, 1963, Jens married Faye Marshall at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple had four children and were later divorced. Jens loved to farm and garden, play cards, attend auctions and go antiquing. In his younger years he was an avid snowmobiler.
Jens is survived by his children Cindy Fenney of Blooming Prairie, Paul Andersen of Ankeny, Iowa, Dawn (Scott) Deyo of New Richland and Troy (Candace) Andersen of Blooming Prairie; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two sisters Carolyn (Paul) Haubenschild and Crystal Joan Sellers, both of Blooming Prairie. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Andersen; mother Crystal Andersen; significant other Shirley Burton and Shirley’s daughter Jessica Burton.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Otterman officiating. Visitation was held Dec. 21, 2015, at the funeral home.
