FRENCH, Karen Sue Gibson, 63, of Abbs Valley went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2019. Born January 4, 1956 in Germany, and raised in Pocahontas, VA she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Gibson Sr. Karen was a member of Christ First United Methodist Chruch for more than 30 years. God and family were the biggest parts of her life. In 2018 she proudly retired from Walmart, after 27 years. During her time at Walmart she touched the lives of so many. She looked forward to summer days on Claytor Lake with her family and friends and loved spending time with the two loves of her life, Vivian and Brooklyn.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Bill French; three children, Timothy Myles (Lisa) of Abbs Valley, VA, John Myles (Tina) of Tampa, FL and Jessica Elswick (Colin) of Tazewell, Va; several grandchildren; two great grandchildren; mother, Virgie Taylor; two brothers, Kenneth Gibson Jr and Skip Heinz; two sisters, Susie George and Becky Taylor; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Christ First United Methodist Church in Abbs Valley, VA, with Pastor Steve Ryman officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.
