Katherine E. Simpson, age 87 years, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at the Fulton County Medical Center. Katherine was born in Needmore, PA on Tuesday July 21, 1931, daughter of the late Lewis Walker and the late Morea Belle (Mellott) Mellott. She married the late William Wallace Simpson on July 31, 1952. Katherine retired from the Fulton County Public Assistance Office in McConnellsburg, PA in 1996. She was very creative and enjoyed spending her free time crocheting, knitting, painting, gardening and listening to her birds.
Katherine is survived by her two children, Ann Simpson of McConnellsburg, PA and Sam (husband of Doris) Simpson of Big Cove Tannery, PA, three step-children, Patricia (wife of Fred) Brumbaugh of Chambersburg, PA, Marian (wife of Carl) Seiders of Fort Littleton, PA and Joanne Buckel of Rockville, Virginia, 5 grandchildren (Amanda, David, Julie, Diane and Danny), 7 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Wallace Simpson, one step son Carl Simpson, two brothers, R. Carl Mellott and Harry J. Mellott and one nephew.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 3:30 P.M. at Damascus Church, 717 Big Cove Tannery Rd., Big Cove Tannery, PA with Pastor Duane Williams officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. www.kelso-corneliusfuneralhome.com.
