CPL AAWilliam “Bill” Henley Moncrief was born in Fort Myers, Florida to Oscar John and Grace Moncrief on January 5, 1925. Mr. Moncrief married Elizabeth Anne”Lizanne” Ward of Fort Myers, FL in l958. Lizanne predeceased him in 2001.
Bill was a retired architect with the Florida Department of Education where he worked for over 30 years.
He was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities: on the Board, greeter, many committees, usher, and Sunday School Teacher. He was a dedicated and active member of the Tallahassee Community. He served his country in the Air Force in World War II. He was very generous with his time, talents and financial support to numerous organizations in the Big Bend Area.
He was a wonderful role model and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his two sons Ward H. Moncrief (Aren) of Tallahassee FL, and Marc H. Moncrief (Sherry) of Calvary GA; four grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Beall (Justin), William Ward Moncrief, Catherine Arendell Moncrief and Trevor Dalton Moncrief; and one great-grandchild, Calvin Hampton Beall.
A private family inurnment will take place in Fort Myers, FL. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: William H. Moncrief Endowment Fund at Elder Care Services, Inc. 2518 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee FL 32304, or Lizanne W. Moncrief Scholarship Endowment Fund @ ECS, Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1080, Tallahassee 32302, or Big Bend Hospice.
