He married Tomagene Rich on November 29, 1956 in Lufkin, TX. Mr. Snead began his career in education as a Jr. High coach with the Grand Prairie ISD before moving to Bonham where he served as Principal for 25 years at L.H. Rather Jr. High. After his retirement from education, Mr. Snead served as maintenance director with the First Baptist Church in Bonham, where he was a long time member and Deacon. Mr. Snead honorably served in the US Air Force.
Surviving are his wife Tomagene Snead of Bonham, son--Tommy Snead & wife Laura of Norman, OK; daughters--Stacy Hunnicutt & husband Kelly of Bonham, Sherri Miller & husband Bill of Austin, and Stephani Buckingham of Pilot Point, TX; grandchildren--J.P. Snead & wife Lyndsay, Josh Snead & wife Perry, Heather Snead, Haley Snead, Skylar, Sawyer, Slatyr, and Stryker Hunnicutt, Arthur Buckingham & wife Julianne, Alyson Buckingham, and Aaron Buckingham; two great grandchildren--Jackson & Jameson Snead; brother--Irvin Shelton Snead & wife Ruby of Arkansas; brother in law--Joe Rich & wife Sara Beth of Lufkin, TX.
Mr. Snead was preceded in death by his parents, sisters--Helen Grubbs & Eula Dean Hutchinson, and brother--Thelbert Wayne Snead.
John Weldon Snead will long be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and mentor to the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Bonham. Officiating will be Rev. Morgan Malone assisted by Rev. W.C. “Bill” Beasley. Interment will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham with military honors rendered by the US Air Force.
