Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Keller

Elizabeth Clapper was born on January 17th, 1848, near Yellow Creek, Penn. She was the third of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clapper, all of whom have preceded her in death.

In early life she united with the Church of the Brethren and she has lived a faithful, consistent, Christian life. She was always interested in the higher things of life and her greatest concern was in the advancement of the Kingdom of God. While her health permitted, her place was never vacant in church and her greatest happiness was in serving others.

On November 2nd, 1875, she was united in marriage to Michael Keller, of New Enterprise, Penn. They enjoyed life together for almost 52 years. Theirs was a true Christian home. To them were born three children, two sons and a daughter. One son died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. W. W. (Lydia) Horning, of Larned, Kansas; A. C. Keller, of Minneola, Kansas, and Mrs. Ira J. Lapp (an adopted daughter) of Miami, New Mexico.

Since the death of her husband last July Mrs. Keller has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. W. Horning.

She had been in failing health for some years and has been declining very rapidly the last months. She departed this life on the evening of May 7th, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 20 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss three children, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a number of nephews and nieces and many friends and neighbors. The funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon at the Larned Rural Church of the Brethren, by Rev. J. J. Yoder, of McPherson, Kansas. She will be greatly missed by those who were nearest to her, but her memory will be cherished and her influence will live on.
