JAMESTOWN - Mr. Samuel (Sam) Beam Gantt, 77, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mr. Gantt was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Anthony. He was a member of Gate City Masonic Lodge 694, was a member of the Jamestown Golf Association and retired from Western Electric in 1983, after more than 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Connie M. Gantt of the home; sons, Samuel Wayne Gantt of Greensboro, Billie Marion Gantt of Raleigh, Rodney Clay Gantt of Timberlake; stepdaughter, Beth L. Stone of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Farrel Gantt of Morganton, Paul Gantt of Vale, Gary Gantt of Morganton; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Keith Gantt, Michael and Joshua Gantt, Justin and Faith Gantt; and step-granddaughter, Kate L. Stone.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at the funeral home.
