James Lee Isom, a resident of Moneta, formerly of Stafford, passed away on February 9, 2019 at home, at the age of 74. Born in Galax, VA., and raised in both VA. and West Virginia, Jim served in the U.S.Army from 1962-1966, and then worked in data processing for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Linda Isom, and their children, Jennifer (Edward) Atkins, and Chris (Leah McLaughlin) Isom. He also leaves behind two step grandchildren Ashley (Mike) Clay and Eddie (Heather) Atkins; three step great-grandchildren, Michael, Caitlin, and Christopher; five brothers-in-law ( and their spouses), two sisters-in-law ( and their spouses), two step-sisters; two aunts, Audrey Lawson and Opal Clifton; one uncle, Frank Lawson, Jr; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother (Melba Lawson), father (Troy Isom), and step-father (Robert Lawson), as well as various aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to being a beloved family man, Jim was a man who believed in serving his community as evidenced by his years as a Boy Scout leader and Scout master, as well as his more recent work as director of the Bedford Bible Institute. He also volunteered with the Lake Christian Ministries.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Word of Life Evangelical Church in Bedford with Pastor David Whitehurst officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the church.

The family request memorial contributions be made to Christian Ministries or Word of Life Evangelical Church.
