Maggie Lee Coleman, affectionately known as “Catherine or Cat”, departed this life on February 25, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. Maggie was born on February 1, 1931 in Trenton, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Rutherford Hayes Lee Sr. and Maggie Scott Lee. She is preceded in death by her sister Susie L. Atkins; brothers, Rutherford Hayes Lee, Jr. and William Scott Lee, Sr.; and grandson Clayton Edwards.

Catherine was an ordained minister and worked as a Presser at Blue Buckle Overall Factory, Nursing Assistant at Central Virginia Training Center, and Caregiver for several families. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the piano, and singing gospel hymns.

She is survived in life by her daughter, Valerie Silas; three sons, Sylvester Edwards, Michael Silas (Annette), and Lawrence S. Silas (Gena); granddaughters, Sonia, Tiffany, Robin, Brigette, LaTonya, and Tajuana; grandsons, Marcus, Justin, Christopher, Ryan, Daine, Omar, and Cameron; and a host of beloved great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
