NEW BEDFORD — Christopher M. Kennedy, 56, of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late James F. and Edith M. (McNulty) Kennedy, he lived in Dartmouth all of his life, before moving to New Bedford two years ago.

Chris was employed by the Coastline Elderly Services Elderly Nutrition Program. He had also been a Standard-Times carrier for over thirty years. Throughout the years he developed many friendships with his satisfied customers.

He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and attended Bristol Community College and University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

He is survived by his siblings, John T. Kennedy and his wife Karen of Wareham, Mary J. Kennedy, Anne M. Murphy and her husband Robert, and Charles F. Kennedy and his wife Adriana, all of New Bedford, and Kathleen T. Saunders and her husband Richard of Dartmouth; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was the brother of the late James J. and Joseph Patrick Kennedy.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
