Obituary:
John H. Spears, 69, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Stringfellow Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2011, at Happy Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest Bowen and the Rev. Chris Jackson officiating.

Burial followed at the church cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home of Heflin in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Terry Brian Guyer, Kyle Turner, Shane Reeves, Timmy Bryant, Rodney Vice, Brad Whatley, Jeremy Bryant and Wayne Vice.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Lea B. Spears, of Heflin; a son, Johnny Lee (Angela) Spears, of Heflin; four sisters, Nancy (Tim) Carman, of Talladega, Debra Williams, Patsy Comer, and Marlene Meeks, all of Anniston; three brothers, Bill Spears, of Cedartown, Ga., Michael (Laura) Spears, of Anniston and Sonny (Edna Earl) Spears, of Chulafinne; a grandchild, Jennifer Lee Spears; and one great-grandchild, Jalen Lee Spears.

Mr. Spears was a resident of Cleburne County for most of his life. He was a member and deacon of Happy Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Spears was a mason and spent 16 years in the U.S. Army and the Alabama National Guard.
