Rev. W. Glyn Evans of Hingham went to be with his Lord peacefully July 2, 2013, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Glyn was born May 5, 1918, in Swansea, Wales, to William John and Edith Miles Evans and moved to this country with his family at the age of 10.

He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois in 1945 and later from the Wheaton College Graduate School of Theology. He also received a master's degree from Northern Illinois University.

In 1949, he became pastor of the Columbia Baptist Church in Cincinnati Ohio, which was followed by ministries in Springfield, Ill., Hingham, and North Kingstown, R.I. He also taught in the Wheaton College Graduate School of Theology as assistant professor of Practical Theology. After retiring from full-time pastoral ministry, he served for a number of years as interim pastor within the Conservative Baptist Association of New England. He served 13 churches in this capacity, the last of which was the Chinese Christian Church of Pawtucket, R.I.

He was the author of nine books including the devotional book, Daily with the King, which was first published in 1979 and currently in its 14th edition and having sold over 100,000 copies in four languages.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Henrietta Agnew; their three children, William (Dixie), James, and Nancy (Phil) Lauture; three grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer), Ryan (Janna) and Beth (Kevin) Corsello; and six great-grandchildren, Jack, Andrew, Aurelia, Adrianna, Harper, and Olivia; as well as sisters, Muriel, Margaret, Hannah, Benice and Philippa. He was preceded in death by siblings, Ceinwyn, Tess, Olwen, Robert and Edith.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St., in Hingham. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request.
