Ruth Snow, 86, of Waterbury, peacefully entered into eternal life on March 14, 2019. She was the wife of the late William J. Snow, Sr.
She was born in Waterbury, on May 26, 1932 daughter of the late Ellis and Dockiner (Sturdivant) Petty Sr. She attended local schools and worked at many places in the local area. In 1982, she retired from the Salvation Army Thrift Store, in order to take care of her ailing husband. She was one of the last founding members of the Family Circle Club. She was an avid cook and baker, and was well known for her carrot cake, peach cobbler along with many other southern dishes. She was a mentor, friend and mother to many.

She leaves to cherish her memory seven sons; Alan Petty, Sr., William (Debra) Snow, Jr., Duane “Bubba” Snow, John “Duke” Lockwood III and Kelvin (Carol) Williams all of Waterbury, Albert (Rhonda) Petty, Sr. of Newport News, VA, and Martin “Tiny” (Louise) Snow both of Hamden, two daughters Carol Snow of Norwich and Holly Snow of Waterbury, a brother John (Marie) Petty of Woodbury. She also leaves twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, a God son Mark Fain of FL, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by three sons Ronald (Snow) Petty Sr., Lawrence “Superman” Mates Jr., and Eric “Fat Daddy” Gallon, two brothers Ellis Petty, Jr. and Charles Petty, Sr., four sisters Mary Esther Elliot, Louise Brown, Christine Butler, and Myrtle Graves, three lifelong friends who were like sisters Ellamay Lewis, Lillymae Burgison and Ruth V. Ralph.

The Funeral will be held at 12 noon on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Family Worship Center, 258 Montoe Rd., Waterbury. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Rd., Waterbury.
A Calling hour will be held from 11 am until the time of the service.

Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, with James R. Sanders Funeral Director is assisting the family with arrangements.
