She was born in Marshall County, Alabama in 1923 to Martin Luther Evans (1879-1967) and Bertha Medlock Evans (1894-1966) and grew up in Albertville, Alabama.
Her father was married briefly to Naomi Ruth Evans (1893-1917) who died at the age of 24 after giving birth to Mary's only half sibling, John Martin Evans. Her father then married Bertha Medlock (Mary's Mother) on November 27th, 1918 in Marshall County, Alabama.
In 1959 she married Dr. Henry Boyce Wilson Sr., a college professor, and together they lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas; Martin, Tennessee; and Rustin, Louisiana; before settling in Pensacola, Florida, in 1964.
During World War II she left her childhood home in Albertville to answer a newspaper ad looking for women to work for the FBI in Washington D.C. to examine fingerprints of prospective employees of various military bases. When she left the FBI, she attended nursing school at The University of Alabama, became a pediatric nurse, and then a nursing school instructor after becoming part of The University of Alabama’s first Master of Nursing program graduating class.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Henry Boyce Wilson Sr. (1879-1967). Also by 1/2 brother Dr. John Martin Evans (1916-2002), Full Siblings; Karleen Evans Duke (1919-1977), Emerson M. Evans (1921-2011), Christie Underwood Evans (1922-1991), Aleta Evans Johnston (1925-1994) and Martin Luther Evans Jr. (1928-1999).
She is survived by her sister Mildred Evans Duke.
Also survived by her children, Helen Smith (Andrew), Henry Boyce Wilson Jr. (Kay), and Madeline Allen (Richard); her grandchildren, Nic Gulas, Haley Collums (Chris), Maria Kooken (Banks), Katie Krumcke (Clay), Alex Smith, and Nick Smith; great grandchildren, Amelia and Wilson Collums along with many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM and the service will begin at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
