Publisher. Born in Emden, Germany, during World War II, he was a propaganda writer then became one of the most prominent journalists and magazine publishers in Germany. In the 1930s, he started working as a journalist for the propaganda unit in Italy and then was a speaker of the Olympic Oath for the 1936 games event in Berlin. After the war, for a few years he worked journalism for many German newspapers. In 1948, he founded and was editor of the news magazine "Der Stern". He led his magazine (1948-80), to become one of the strongest in Europe and was the largest publisher in Europe, as of 2014. He died at age 82 in Hannover, Germany.
