A consummate mother and caretaker, Barbara loved her family and took great pride in preserving family genealogy and history. She loved animals and was lifelong supporter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Over the years she had many beloved pets, cared for multiple bird feeders and was quick to care for strays. Barbara cared deeply about friends and family, maintaining a long mental list of names of which she regularly inquired.
Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended the Texas State College for Women which later became Texas Women’s University. Prior to becoming a full time wife and mother, she worked for Kelly Staffing Agency in Dallas. Barbara was also an avid gardener who was known for her heirloom rose bushes which she raised from gifted cuttings. Throughout her life she remained proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage as a second generation American.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 53 years, Thomas A. Hutson. She is survived by her son Brent and his wife Melissa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lauren and Bryce.
During the last years of her life, Barbara was a resident of C. C. Young Senior Living in Dallas. She developed many friendships with her beloved caregivers. The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the entire C. C. Young staff and the C. C. Young Hospice Team for providing remarkably compassionate and professional care.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 4-6:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday March 25, 2019 at 12:30PM at the Wildwood Chapel on the grounds of Restland Funeral Home.
