James Bertram “J.B.” Goolsby was born in Timpson, Texas on August 3, 1935 to Columbia Sue Childs and Lloyd Bertram Goolsby. He attended Lon Morris College for two years, before transferring to Stephen F. Austin where he received a Master’s degree in Education. He married Dixie Lee Bullock on August 30, 1957 in Lufkin, Texas. They moved to Bryan, Texas in 1963. They were very active in the Twin City Church of Christ in College Station, Texas. J.B. went to work for State Farm Insurance in 1960 and retired as an Agency Director in 1998. He helped build NAPA Auto Parts in College Station in 1997. He enjoyed retirement at their lake house at Camp Creek. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dixie; daughter Lezli of Bryan; daughter Dion Parlow and husband Tom and their children Thomas, Dusty, and Wyatt, all of College Station, Texas, and countless friends and loved ones that will miss him dearly. J.B. is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ben Goolsby; sisters, Thelma Mathis, Selma Cowan, and Nora Rice. James Bertram Goolsby died on March 20, 2019 at home in Bryan, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at Twin City Church of Christ at 10 am on Friday, March 22, 2019 with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories in Lufkin, Texas 3 pm.
