Phillip R. "Sonny" Thompson was born December 14, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charlies Arthur and Rosa Mae Stevens Thompson. He died Friday, March 15, 2019, in Tulsa at the age of 84 years.

Sonny spent some of his working life as a truck driver, but mostly was as an aircraft mechanic with McDonnell-Douglas in Tulsa. He had made his home in Owasso, Oklahoma since 1966. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially hunting and fishing. Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:
His daughter and son-in-law; Vicki and Dennis Reed, of Owasso, Oklahoma
Grandchildren; Ericka Luginbill and husband Robert, of Kellyville, Oklahoma
Dennis Reed, Jr., of Atoka, Oklahoma
Great Grandchildren; Mikayla Nash and Brandon Jarmin
Great, Great Granddaughter; Gabrielle Feemster

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Brandon Reed, two brothers, and eight sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Leonard Pirtle officiating. Final resting place with be at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
