The Fairbury Journal-Mar. 10, 1964
Alfred Adkins, 60, of 1000 Third street Fairbury, Neb., died Monday March 10, 1964 in a local hospital.
Survivors include his wife and son, Eugene of Fairbury.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon in the Traum Chapel with Rev. Virgil Willits, Pastor of the Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury cemetery.

Alfred R. Adkins of 1000 Third street, Fairbury, Neb., died March 9, 1964 in a local hospital at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 10 days.
He was born Oct. 29, 1903 in Jefferson county, Neb., the son of Ellet and Jessie Preston Adkins.
On April 5, 1925, he married Leoda E. Bushell and to them a son, Alfred Eugene, was born.
Mr. Adkins attended public schools in and near Fairbury and then worked for the Rock Island railroad and later on was employed by Tippin's Dairy. He worked for Bervin Distributing Co. mostly until his severe illness.
His parents and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Grissom, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife Leoda, and son, Eugene of the home; three sisters, Daisy, Mrs. Cal Brown, and Mildred, Mrs. Harold Peabody, both of Fairbury and Doris, Mrs. Liston Carmichael of Tucson, Ariz., and other relatives.
Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon in the Traum chapel with Rev. Virgil Willits, pastor of the Christian church, officiating. Burial was in the Fairbury cemetery.
Pallbearers were Herman Schmidt, John Brown, William Adkins, Rodney Kolar, Ernest Adkins and William Annable.
