Judith Jean Cordes-Jenkins, age 73, of Mattoon passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral Services honoring her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Wilford Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Judith was born on July 9, 1945 in Evansville, Indiana the daughter of Joseph Rudy and Audry (Beals) Coon. She was married to Paul Jenkins. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1995.
Survivors include her children, Sue Watson, Sherri Stone, Angela Cordes, Darlena DeLeon, Dawn Cordes, David Hampton, Nathan Wheeler, Devin Cordes, Patsy Cordes, Jackie Jenkins, Paula Million, Robin Jenkins, and Jared Cordes; grandchildren, Howard Cordes Jr., Lilly Claybaugh, Ethan Busby, Katie Arthur, Kelab Arthur, Jacob Rogers, Roger DeLeon, Jillian DeLeon, Anthony Wheeler and Kimberly Wheeler. Judith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Jenkins; grandparents, Mudder and Pop; two sons, Jackie Stone Jr. and Ed Hacker.
Judith was a homemaker and took care of many children in addition to her own. She will be remembered as “Memom: to many. Judith enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
