He married Diane Witzel in 1958, she survives in Upper Sandusky along with a son Rick (Debbie Smith) Wrightsman and a daughter Carol "Bitsey" (Tom) Morehart, both of Upper Sandusky, 3 grandchildren Gretchen, Adam, Jacob, 2 great grandchildren Hayden and Charlie Cade, a brother Bill, sisters Ruth and Susie. He is preceded in death by a stillborn child Simone V. Wrightsman, a brother Ray and sisters Juanita, Lola and Catherine.
Mr. Wrightsman was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was an eight year veteran of the United States Air Force. He owned Witzel Marathon which became Joe's Marathon, he and his brother-in-law owned and operated Plaza Alignment Car Service Center, and he retired from Dlubak Glass. He was a member of BPOE #83, AmVets Post #777, and American Legion Post #225. Joe enjoyed golfing and mowing his lawn. In a September 1964 edition of the Daily Chief Union newspaper an article was written where he was credited with helping save the life of 3 year old Debra Jane Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 6, 2016 in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Trester officating. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. before time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County or Huntington's Foundation in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
