John W. Hamner, 92, of Flat Rock, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Waldron Health and Rehab Center.
He was retired as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force. He served over 20 years and was a WWII veteran.
Born June 8, 1926 in Shelby County, John was the son of Russell A. Hamner, Sr. and Gladys A. Reed Hamner. He graduated from Flat Rock High School. He enjoyed studying genealogy.
Survivors include a brother, Russell A. Hamner, Jr. of Shelbyville; a nephew, Russell D. (Jenny) Hamner of Flat Rock and nieces, Barbara (Brad) Hamel of Indianapolis and Deborah (Kit) Mohr of Edinburgh.
Per John's wishes, cremation is planned and there will be no services. His cremains will be buried at Hamner Cemetery.
John was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Gladys.
Services entrusted to Norman Funeral Home.
