Richard Henry Reed was born in 1863, son of Thomas Reed and Elizabeth Anne Rowe-Reed, both came to the U.S. from England.
In 1888, Richard married Elizabeth Magdalene "Lizzie" Balbac, and they had three children: Ethel Mae Reed-Fraser... Freeman L. Reed... and Leona Elizabeth Reed-Foster.
In 1914, Richard was appointed Elizabeth Township Supervisor, and won every two year election thereafter for 21 years. He was Dean of the Jo Daviess County Board. He retired in 1935.
