Son of Rev William Davis Jr. and Joicie Johnson Davis. Husband of Catherine Pace Davis. Served the Confederacy as Private in Co.K 34th Reg Georgia Vol.Inf., Army of Tennessee.Captured and later paroled at Vicksburg,Ms. July 1863, discharged May 1965 at Bentonville,N.C.

From Mildred Davis Davidson's Book:
"Someone rushed into the Frolona one room schoolhouse and shouted,"Uncle Will Davis is dying! They want all of his grandchildren to come home right now." At this,ALL the children in the school (perhaps 50) jumped up from their benches and ran out of the school."

He was a charter member of Walnut Hill Masonic Lodge No.311 and was a lifelong leader of the Sacred Harp style of Gospel singing.
