Karen passed away May 2, 2018, in Burien at the age of 76. She was born on September 25, 1941, in Aberdeen, Washington, the daughter of Edith and Everett Motteler. Karen graduated from the University of Washington and married Richard Tyree, and they were married for 47 years, until his passing in 2010. Karen taught English / French, and she was an assistant magazine editor, office manager, legal secretary, contingency planner, and technical writer. She sang and played music throughout her life, both in church and in community groups, most recently with Fauntleroy Church, Silver Sounds, the Boeing Band, and the Highline Community Band. She also loved walking the area's parks and bird watching.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Tyree (D. Evan Williams); son Geoff Tyree (Angie Tyree); and son James Tyree (Jamie Westerman); and grandchildren Michael, Emma, Jack, Caitlin, and Zachary. She is preceded in death by her brothers Jack and Howard Motteler.

Services were held at Fauntleroy Church in Seattle

on Saturday, June 23, at 1:00 p.m.
