Mark Robert Weber, 62, of Portland passed away on March 3, 2019 surrounded by his wife and two children.
Mark was born in Bremerton, WA to Robert and Barbara Joan Weber. He attended school in Portland, OR and graduated from Franklin High School where he played football.
He married Janice Kruse on September 10, 1976 but they had known each other since they were 12. This year would have marked their 43rd anniversary. That is what you call true love!
Mark was always an outdoorsy kind of guy. He always took his family camping, fishing and crabbing. He found joy in playing with his grandchildren, cooking and working on projects around the house. If you ever needed a hand, he was always the one to say yes. He worked for Pierre’s bakery for the majority of his career. He then went on to work for the Red Cross as a recruiter for blood donation. Mark spent a few years at Mt. Hood Community College when he got interested in printing and graphic design. He even designed Franklin High School athletics shirts for a fundraiser with Tom Grant.
Mark was always in to music and played in several bands throughout his life – his daughter’s favorite band name was “The Common Cold” – and continued to play the guitar for the remainder of his years. If you ever saw him out of the house, he was most likely wearing a Pink Floyd T-Shirt and sporting his signature beard proudly! He was the guy you want to run into when you were feeling up for a chat – he made friends everywhere he went. He somehow touched the heart of each person he ran into, he always made you feel welcome and had a story for every conversation.
Mark was a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. He took his family to their first Mariners game in 1998! He played fantasy football with his son for many years and would always host amazing super bowl dinners with his family and made his signature clam chowder (don’t tell Mo’s restaurant – they may have gotten the recipe from him during one of many annual trips to the Oregon Coast!). He has also always been a dog lover, he was currently “dad” to two Boston Terriers named Bogie and Bacall.
His loving wife, Janice; son, Colin (Cheryl); daughter, Katie (Matt) and brother, Steve (Tina) survive Mark. He was grandfather to his three amazing grandchildren, Branden, Isabelle and Mia. He was uncle to Holly, Ivy, Kevin, Kristina, Hannah, Sarah, and Abigail; goddaughter, Nicole and godson, John Onkka.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, William.
