Dr. Bildad Andross graduated from Yale and began his career as a small town physician in Northfield, MA, 1750-68; Westminster and Moretown, VT, and finally to Bradford, VT in 1777, living on the Lower Plain, quite near to the Connecticut River, slightly north of the road leading to Piermont, NH. He served as a surgeon in the Revolutionary War under Colonel Marsh in John Gideon Bayley's Newbury company.

In 1775, he was a member of the Cumberland Co. Court, which was sitting at Westminster at the time of the famous trouble there. On 29 May 1777, the citizens of Bradford voted to send Dr. Andross and Benjamin Baldwin to Windsor to take measures for the organization of a new state. He was a member of Congregational Church and was primary grantee along with Michael Metcalf in grant of land that constituted Westminister, VT, 26 Mar 1772. He signed the petition along with Seth Ford for the establishment of Bradford, 5 Feb 1780.

According to Vatican historians who had access to the Vatican Secret Archives and some documents within the Apostolic Penitentiary and according to the oral traditions of the Early Churches located in the Middle East and Asia Minor, there are certain families or houses typically known to have blood descent from certain Apostles of Jesus.

For example, the surname Andraos is attributed to Andrew (Andraos = Andrew), and it is likely that the British "Andrews" or "Andross" is also descended from the Apostle Andrew.
