Sylvia graduated from high school in Bunker Hill, Indiana. She earned her nursing license at Kings Daughters Hospital in Temple, Texas. Sylvia and her family moved to Utah in 1973. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City for 5 years then transferred to the Hill Air Force Base Hospital where she worked for an additional 30 years.
Sylvia married Paul Garcia and 1968 and had one daughter. They later divorced.
Sylvia was a member of Eastern Star and a past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile of Utah and a Past Guardian of Bethel #14 in Ogden.
The light of her life was her daughter, Teresa, and then later, her son-in-law Gary Evans. She will be sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Loyd H Summers and her mother, Dorothy B. Summers.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa B. Evans (Gary), brother Randall H. Summers, niece Sarah Wood (Josh), nephew Samuel H. Summers (rose), and great nephews Xander and Keegan Murphy, and Erik Carpenter.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 3:00PM at Aaron's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 S. State Street, Clearfield, Utah.
