The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday at the Pinecrest Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Baker, 67, of Pineville passed from this life, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Ben resided at Pinecrest Supports and Services Center, Pineville for 54 years. Prior to that time Ben resided with his parents in Tioga, LA. and he attended the LA Spastic School. Ben was a very special person and had a unique memory. He was able to remember important facts told him by everyone he encountered and always asked about those things (especially about their children and their pets). The one thing he may not have remembered was your correct name, but he did remember the name that he made up for you. He considered the employees of Pinecrest as a part of his family. He voiced his opinions and was also “in the know” about the political candidates up for election. He was very interested in all his aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews and grandparents. He liked to use the telephone and called all of his family on a regular basis (even calling collect).
He also enjoyed calling Wilbur Saucier (his attorney) to report all of his mother’s faults and to seek his professional advice about divorcing her. He was a joy to be around and gave his family a very special love. Ben’s mother and daddy were especially grateful that God chose them to be the parents of such a “special person”. God in His INFINITE wisdom and perfect plan gave Bennie the opportunity to experience a great/wonderful life at PSSC and with his biological family. Throughout his life, he touched the lives of so many.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Sue DeMorse Baker; brother, Brian Keith Baker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Ben Baker, Jr.; sister, Brenda Turnage; nieces and nephews, Benjamin James Baker and wife, Katie; John Turnage, Jr., Ariele Nicole Baker and; great-nephew, Bryce James Baker; aunts, Joey Bohnke, Mary Louise Bass, Sue Anita Baker; cousins, Jamie Bohnke-Rudis and Taylor Bohnke-Lewis; a host of other family members and close friends.
