Services Tuesday For Maurice Spitz, 71 -
Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus for Maurice A. Spitz, 71, a farmer living near Cushing. Burial was in the Columbus Cemetery.

Mr. Spitz was born Oct. 23, 1898 in Polk County to Theodore and Nora Spitz and passed away Sunday Feb. 14 in a Columbus hospital after a two week illness.

He was married to Julia Marshall Jan. 1, 1939 at Smith Center, Kansas and lived in the Columbus area until 1941 when he moved to a farm near Cushing.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Jim of Fontanelle, Iowa and Robert, stationed with the Navy in San Francisco; a step-daughter, Jae Dean, Erie, Colorado, two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; his mother; two brothers and three sisters.

An obituary in The Wolbach Messenger, February 18, 1971, contained the following additional information:

He was survived by his mother, Nora Spitz of Columbus; two brothers, John and George of Columbus; three sisters, Nora Massie of Columbus, Marie Cambell and Mildren Horton of California. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Mrs. Magi Murcek of Columbus and by his first wife, Argena Michaelsen.
