"Claude Avery, a young man who has lived in this city for many years, died yesterday afternoon at Mercy hospital of consumption, after a short illness. The deceased had only returned to Fort Scott a short time ago. He was taken sick a few weeks ago and was sent to the hospital where he received the careful and devoted attention of the Sisters. Mr. Avery was 31 years of age. He had no relatives In this city. His mother died here some years ago. His father is living In Beardstown, Ill., but for years he had been separated from his family."
