Jay L. Phillips, 39, of Hewitt, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. June 8, at Pecan Grove Funeral, Waco. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Central Texas State Cemetery in Killeen for family members. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at the funeral home.

Jay was born in Crosbyton, Texas, to Jim and Linda Fowler Phillips. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Jay's sense of humor and friendship will be missed. He never met a stranger and was willing to lend a helping hand to others. He was a beloved father, son and brother and will be missed by all who knew him. "And you Seahag, Hooorahh!!"

Jay is survived by his sons, Marcus, Jacob and Christopher; parents, Jimmy and Linda Phillips, of Lometa; sister, Angela Moore, of Austin; fiancée, Christine Blaschak; and a host of friends and military friends.
