Mr. Calvert was born in Whitney, South Carolina on December 10, 1937 to the late James and Venie Glasson Calvert. Howard married Doris Alexander on June 4, 1961. Married for 51 years, Howard and Doris raised their three children, Patti, Darryl and Brian in Wynne, Arkansas. He was a minister for 45 years and lived his life seeking to glorify God and had a great heart for missions. Howard was the former minister at Candle Light Baptist Church and a current member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a true patriot at heart.

He is survived by his children, Darryl Calvert and Charlotte of Wynne, Brian Calvert of Jonesboro, Patti Askins and husband Brian of Springfield, Missouri, brother, Bobby Calvert of Spartenburg, South Carolina, grandchildren, Chandler, Chase, Jordan, Austin, Kaitlyn, Cody, Caly, Cady, and Casy, great-grandchildren, Rylan, Rayden, Raina, Shiloh and one on the way, Harper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2013, daughter, Darlene Calvert, grandson, Brennan and siblings, Alice Mae, Myrtle, Luther, Bill, and James.
Visitation will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 10 AM with burial in Cogbill Cemetery.
