Born on January 4, 1926 in Burlington, VT to the late Henry H. and Louise (Winter) Cameron, she was a resident of Lake Wales since 1953, moving from Eustis, FL. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales.
Nancy worked as a Stewardess for American Airlines early in her career and as a Travel Agent for the Charles Stanland Travel Agency in Lake Wales after her children started grade school.
Nancy and her late husband, Dick, were long-term volunteers for the Lake Wales Care Center including delivery of Meals on Wheels. She was also a volunteer at Lake Wales Medical Center for many years. Nancy and Dick were avid bridge players and formed a group of four couples that they called the “blood and guts” group due to their passionate play!
Nancy supported her sons’ activities while they were growing up, first as Cub Scout Den Mother and later as staunch supporter of their sports and band activities.
She loved traveling and lead tours to many domestic and overseas destinations in her work with Stanland Travel Services. She adored dogs, having grown up with German Shepherds while young, and later with various mixed breeds while in Lake Wales.
Nancy’s favorite food was Live Maine Lobster and she was quite adept at finding hidden morsels in the legs and small tail sections of a lobster.
Nancy and Dick moved to the Waters Edge of Lake Wales senior living community in 2014 and she lived there until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dixon F. Armstrong Sr., son, Dixon F. Armstrong Jr., and sister, Jean Donaldson.
Survivors include her sons Peter C. (Cecilia) Armstrong of Brookhaven, GA, and James C. (Linda) Armstrong of Lake Wales, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
