Darrel Ray Hayes, of Chickasha (formerly of Pauls Valley) passed away March 14, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years.

Darrel was born on September 24, 1946 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Pearl (Ashcraft) Hayes and Ivan Boone Hayes. He was one of eight children. He grew up in Waynoka and graduated from Waynoka High School in 1964.

A Veteran of the United States Air Force, his Tour of Duty began October 30, 1964 and was discharged on October 30, 1968. While in the service, he and Linda Jane Herell were married in Sherman, Texas on October 15, 1966. He later furthered his education by attending East Central University in Ada, OK where he earned a degree in Bachelor of Arts.

Darrel began working for the State of Oklahoma at the Pauls Valley State School after graduating college. He worked for the State until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Boone and Pearl Hayes; and six siblings, Geraldine Ina Hayes, Wilbert David Hayes, Billie Ruth Spencer, Don Richard Hayes, Ivan Dread Hayes and Robert James Hayes.

His surviving family include his wife, Linda Hayes; sons and their wives, Kevin and Stephanie Hayes, all of Chickasha; and Carey and Rosa Hayes, of Pauls Valley; sister, Kristi Lowe and her husband, George, of El Reno; grandchildren, Logan, Kaila, Kaleb, Quentin, Olivia, Abbi, Zac and Conner; and great grandchildren, MaKinley and Liam.

Memorial services and interment will be at Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Services for cremation were under the direction of the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
