Richard H. Knapp, 84 of Syracuse passed away Tuesday, surrounded by family. He was born in Pompey the son of the late Oliver and Laura Knapp. Richard grew up in Pompey and graduated from Jamesville High School. He proudly served in the U. S. Army. Richard worked as a Foreman with Allied Chemical. He was past president and a member of the Jamesville Sportsman's Club. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports. He is survived by his daughters, Katherine Murphy, Patricia Knapp, Erin Shannon, Amanda Knapp; son, Michael Shannon; sisters, Mary Knapp, Doris Jones, Norma Knapp, Margaret Cook, Clara (Bill) Neuman; brothers, Robert and Donald Knapp; grandchildren, Donovan and Dillon Murphy; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Susan and his second wife, Maeve and his brother Francis Knapp. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd. Manlius. A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home, burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
