Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Raye Edwards Steele are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019, in Christ Church Cemetery with Bro. Tim Post officiating.

Mrs. Steele, a homemaker and resident of Bastrop, LA, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the age of 78. She adored her family and loved people in general. She was a kind, generous, unconditionally loving person, who loved the Lord. Mrs. Steele was a woman of true integrity and one of the best cooks ever. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband, George Steele; daughters, Susie Knight and husband Tony, and Leigh Lambert and husband Stephen; son, Michael Steele and wife Lindsey Thornton; sister, Jerry Dean Edwards Morgan and husband Glenn; grandchildren, Michael Knight and Crystal Cooper, Jeremy Knight and wife Chelsey, and Christopher Chowns; and great grandchildren, Mickayla Knight and Anthony “A.J.” Knight.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nonor and Virgil Edwards; sisters, Vera Redding, Carol McCasland, and Sybil Edwards; and brothers, Noel Edwards, Lavelle Edwards, Johnny Edwards, John Doyle Edwards, Leonard Edwards, Glen Edwards, and Alfred “Speedy” Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Knight, Jeremy Knight, Christopher Chowns, Stephen Lambert, Tony Knight, and Michael Steele.
