Rowena was born January 29, 1932 to proud parents Harry Lynn and Thelma Marie Sheley, of Hopkins, Missouri. As a young child her family was up-rooted after losing their farm during the dust bowl and depression of the thirties and they moved to Colorado. For several years they lived on a dairy farm where her father was employed. This dairy farm was located where the Air Force Academy is located today. She had many stories to share of her time there. Her family later moved to Denver where Rowena would graduate from North High School in 1950.
It would be Rowena’s involvement in the youth activities of the Highland Christian Church in Denver that she would meet Leo Leslie Williams whom she would marry on March 7, 1952. Rowena and Leslie would move several times, first to Newcastle, Wyoming where daughter Sandra would be born, back to Denver, Colorado where their two son’s Robert and Carl would be born. The family would later move to West Warwick, Rhode Island, and then to Pasadena, Texas where they resided for almost 30 years.
Rowena worked most of her life as a bookkeeper for several different companies and eventually as an oil lease analyst for Pennzoil Company until her retirement in 2000. Shortly after retirement she would move back to Denver, which she always considered home as that is where her siblings reside.
Rowena loved God and her family and no matter where they lived, she made sure the family was involved in the life of a local Christian church.
Rowena enjoyed traveling and been to 49 0f the 50 states (North Dakota being the exception). She had traveled to Canada, Europe, and cruised the Hawaiian Islands. She also loved to quilt having made quilts for all three of her children and all four of her grandchildren as well as working on numerous other quilts through the Colorado quilters group. The thing she lived for the most though was a good game of cards or Mexican Train with family and or friendships she developed through church involvement.
Rowena was proceeded in death by her parents Harry and Thelma, and her loving husband Leslie. She is survived by her sister Viola Shull, and brother Jack Sheley and wife Patty. Her daughter Sandra Williams and granddaughter Chrystal Fairbanks, son Robert Williams, and wife Jody, grandson Ronald Williams and wife Jen and great grandsons Micah and Jacob, granddaughter Evangeline Williams, son Carl Williams and wife Mariana, and granddaughter Christina Williams. There are also many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Rowena loved God, her family, friends and all her pets. She lived a great life and we thank you all for being a part of it.
