Nathaniel Avery Pierce Lewis, 5, of Independence, MO, was a real-life superhero. He was born May 26, 2013 at 8:52am at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. After several surgeries, hospitalizations and procedures he lost his fight against his villain, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and several other minor villains on March 13, 2019 at 1:58pm. He was able to finish his fight at home, surrounded by family and friends. A visitation and service will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Monday, March 18, 2019. Service will be at 10am, Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Burial to follow at Six-Mile Cemetery. Nathaniel was the oldest of two children, born to Malachi Lewis and Raechel Weavers. Nathaniel was a funny, smart and bossy 5 year old. He was his sister’s constant superhero and protector. Nathaniel loved animals, his Imaginext Superhero figures and the color green. Nathaniel is survived by parents, Malachi Lewis and Raechel Weavers; younger sister, Isabella; maternal grandparents, Meemaw and Papa Howlett; maternal grandfather, Grandpa Greg; paternal grandmother, Nana Barbara (Lewis); maternal great grandparents, Melba Weavers and Betty Johnson; paternal great grandmother, Nana Margie (Lewis); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, William Lewis Jr; paternal great grandfather, William Lewis Sr; maternal great grandfather, James Weavers; and maternal great-great grandmother, Fern Giesing.
