Harold (Chief) Chase Gilbert Sr., 81, of Collinsville, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Sovah Health in Martinsville.
He was born in Danville on October 7, 1937 to the late James B. Gilbert and the late Hattie B. Ingram Gilbert. In addition to his parents Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Roberts Gilbert and several brothers and sisters.
Harold is survived by his sons, Harold C. Gilbert Jr. (Cindy C.) of Rangeley, Donald Gilbert (Patsy D.) of Collinsville and James H. Gilbert of Kernersville, N.C.; a special granddaughter, Amanda Gilbert (fiancé Christopher Beard) of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; grandchildren, Jessica Beck (Austin) of Winston-Salem, Jousha Gilbert of Kernersville, N.C. and Brad Dalton (Meg) of Chesterfield; great-grandson, Maverick Beck and brother, John Gilbert (Diane) of Ringgold; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Stone Memorial Christian Church in Collinsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Stone Memorial Christian Church with Pastor Tim Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville.
