SUICIDE OF MRS. LEECH AT INGLEWOOD.
FURTHER PARTICULARS. The following are further particulars of the circumstances surrounding the death of Elizabeth Leech, who was found in a pool of water at the back of her house, near Inglewood, at half -past 12 o'clock on Friday. Mr. Leech, who was aged 47, had been ill for six weeks prior to her decease, and had been under Dr. O'Carroll's treatment. It is said that her mind had been wandering for some time past, and on- Friday about noon she got out of bed and went through the window, being only clad in her night dress. A short time after she was missed, her daughter Flora saw her body in a large pond of water, about one hundred yards from the house. When taken out of the water it was found to be devoid of life. At five o'clock a.m. on Friday the deceased got out of her bed and went out, and was found by her son, Charles Leech, near this said pond. This son, who had been attending her all night, thought that his mother got out of bed when he dozed of during his watch. She was brought back and put to bed. Thomas Green Leech, the husband, came home from Stratford on Friday evening. The body exhibits no marks of any desoription. THE INQUEST. The Coroner, Mr. C. E. Rawson, and Inspector Pardy proceeded this morning to Bristol Road, the place where Mr. Leech lives, in order to hold an inquest. (Taranaki Herald 8 Oct 1887 pg2)
