SANDRA KAY CROW March 7, 1943 ~ June 11, 2018 Sandra Kay Crow, 75, of Los Molinos, Calif. passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 11, 2018, at her home. She was born on March 7, 1943, in Jerome, Arizona. Sandra was the daughter of Bernard B. "Scotty" Dolly and Charlotte Pearl Robbs Jones Dolly Elder, and Samuel Russell Elder, stepfather whom she affectionately referred to as "Sampa." Sandra grew up around the copper mines in Arizona. Her mother struggled to make ends meet but was determined to provide a good home for her children. Sandra spent time with her grandparents on weekends and summers. In her teen year's she would travel to her sister's home in Arkansas on vacation. While growing up she cared for her nieces and nephews. She attended Morenci High School in Arizona, graduating in 1961. Sandra attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz. While attending NAU she was active in student government and in the Theta Omega chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. She also spent a semester touring Europe. She graduated in 1965 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with Elementary Education as her major and Mathematics as her minor. She completed 30 hours of graduate work from NAU and San Fernando Valley State College. She began her teaching career teaching fourth-grade for two years at the Lancaster School District in Lancaster, Calif., before moving to the Soledad Agua Dulce Union School District in Acton, Calif. to teach seventh and eighth-grade mathematics and coach the junior high softball and volleyball teams. It was in Lancaster that she met Claude Edwin Crow. The two were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on Sept. 16, 1970. The couple bought and built a home and began a family. While living in Lancaster their first two sons, Jerry and Jeff where born. The couple moved to Corning in 1978 to live closer to Sandra's mother and stepfather who had moved to the Richfield area. In Corning a third son, Sam was born. They moved to Los Molinos in 1979. After moving to the Tehama County area she worked as a substitute teacher at the various schools. In July 1991 Sandra's mother came to live with the family in Los Molinos. Sandra faithfully cared for her until her mother's passing in Jan. 1992. Sandra was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was baptized on Aug. 2, 1952, by Virgil R. Preston and confirmed a member of the church on Aug. 3, 1952. Sandra served primarily in teaching positions, such as the church's Primary organization for children and Young Women organization. Sandra was also very active in the Cub Scout Program serving as both a Den Mother and then as a Den Leader Coach. She served as secretary in the Relief Society, the church's women organization. She loved to knit and crochet, she used these skills belonging to the Knit for Kids group in Red Bluff, which produces sweaters to send to young children in Africa and other impoverished countries. Sandra was a loving wife and proud mother and "Nema" to her grandchildren. She was known for her kindness and sweet smile. She loved reading the scriptures daily. She prided herself with being a Goldwater Girl and was a strong Republican. She loved frogs, evident by her large collection and she was a Utah Jazz fan. She enjoyed Hallmark Channel movies and facebook. While challenged with ill health during the last part of her life, Sandra's spirit and determination remained strong. She loved the time she spent at Red Bluff Health Care and the friends she made with her fellow residents and staff. Sandra is survived by three sons: Claude Jerome "Jerry" Crow of Los Molinos; Jeff (Cori) Crow of Los Molinos; and Samuel (Jason Elam) Crow of Red Bluff. She is also survived by her sisters Gwendolyn Jones Grady (Don) of Thatcher, Arizona and Ethlyn Jones Overall (Jack) of Huntsville, Arkansas and a brother Matthew O. Dolly. She is also survived by five grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband and parents, and a brother Leroy Valentine Jones and sister Vivian Delila Moore (John) Zelletti. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at the Corning Ward LDS Church, corner of Marguerite and Blackburn. She will be buried at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Corning.
