Nancy Ray Henry, 81, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at home surrounded by her three daughters. She was born on June 20, 1937 in Evansville, IN to the late Ray and Edith Wahnsiedler.

Nancy graduated from Bosse High School in 1955 and until her death remained very close to many of her classmates. She graduated from Indiana University nursing school in 1959 and worked in the recovery room at IU Medical Center. She worked as a RN until her husband completed his oral surgery training which took them from Indianapolis, to Terre Haute to Evansville, IN. She had the good fortune to be able to travel to California, Hong Kong, Japan and the Philippines following her husband during his Navy years. Settling in Evansville, raising her three daughters was her main focus. Nancy then returned to work in 1978 at Deaconess Hospital; and, then found her dream job at the VA Clinic, where she made many dear friends and loved working with the veterans. She retired in 2005 after working 25 years at the clinic.

Nancy was a member of Methodist Temple and a life-long Girl Scout. She was a Steiff collector and a member of the Steiff Club since its inception. Nancy was an avid reader, loved playing cards, and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She had been a docent at the Wessleman Nature Center and loved the outdoors and visiting state parks. Nancy enjoyed meeting monthly with her dominos group and the Bosse Babes. She loved animals, especially cats and had many rescue cats come through her home. Nancy adored her family and cherished spending time with them. Her family was lucky to have one last trip together on a Disney cruise last May.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother; John Wahnsiedler and former husband, Richard Henry.

Nancy is survived by daughters; Susan Henry, Sarah Henry and Dana Deken (Kenny), all of Evansville, IN, grandchildren; Emily Janoski, Samuel Janoski, Sarah Janoski, Sophie Henry, Max Henry, Ella Henry, Olivia Deken; great-grandchild, Chloe Janoski; sister-in-law, Linda Wahnsiedler; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 officiated by Rev. Andy Payton with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the funeral home and from noon until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
